The Greenhouse Gallery

From 19 November to 15 January 'White Christmas' will be taking place in The Greenhouse Gallery. For it artists, architects, photographers and designers from around the world were asked to make an artwork based on the theme White Christmas. Each invitee received in the post a small 5 inch square primed canvas as a catalyst for the realisation of an idea associated with this theme. The finished work was to be no bigger than 180mm x 180mm x 180mm and there was just one month allowed for its completion and return to the Guernsey Arts Commission. The type of work on display in this exhibition range from photography, painting, sculpture to sound, light and senses.

The Whitstable Biennale 2010

Originally, this exhibition/exercise took place in London March, 2010, with over 50 international artists participating.  Each artist had been asked to create a work which deals with, rests on, engages with, speaks about, or actually is, a shelf.  For the Whitstable Bienalle, the organizers of this project have expanded it to include the work from various artists in the Whitstable area.  The end result will be a new installation where all the artworks will be forced into very tight confines, creating one large conglomerate work with a variety of microcosms within.

Material Lightness brings together eight non-representational artists selected by Carol Robertson
Belinda Cadbury, Ann Christopher, Julia Farrer, Trevor Sutton, Caroline de Lannoy, Noel Forster, Chris Jennings, Gary Woodley.
Caroline de Lannoy exhibits three new paintings: painting no 207, painting no 209, painting no 212. She paints all-over asymmetric diagonal shapes, each a modulated tonal variant of a single hue. Intuitively, she simultaneously and mysteriously implies both form and space.
