The artwork "About the Marvelous" by Caroline de Lannoy, "a hollow shape that looks like a halo hovering above one's head (in a sense ring shaped halo represents light, spirit and the ideal)," is linked to Issue 15's source-text "Dinner is Served."

Φωνές /Fo̱nés (Voices)

CAMP! Contemporary Art Meeting Point
4 Edpolidos & 2 Apellou, 105 51Athens, Greece
Opening: Thursday 6 March 2014, at 19:00
Duration of Exhibition: 6-29 March 2014

Fo̱nés (voices) is a group of visual artists and social scientists exploring the multiple ways in which sounds produced by living bodies are transformed into matter for thought and art making.
They explore ‘voice’ as a means through which social relationships are constituted and acquire meaning, but they are also interested in voice itself and not solely in ‘the messages’ it transmits or ‘the codes’ it uses. They investigate the materiality of voice as a sound phenomenon as well as its sensory and aesthetic qualities; its connection to and detachment from the body that produces it; the ways it is shaped through techniques and technologies; the ways it defines multiple socio-cultural and ‘natural’ environments.  They are looking into points of convergence and divergence deriving from institutional or other differences between art and social sciences. At the same time they develop networks of communication and collaboration with individuals, groups or institutions interested in similar matters or working in similar ways in Greece and elsewhere.

4 October - 27 October   1pm to 6pm Thursdays to Sundays

Private view: Thursday 3 October, 6pm to 8pm

As part of Acme Studios’ 40th anniversary celebrations, all of its current tenants were invited to complete a small work on an identical A5 postcard. Artists could use any medium and the aim was that, in some way, the work would reflect what their studio represented to them as individuals. This was an opportunity to bring together contributions from artists testifying to the range of practitioners who collectively make such an extraordinary contribution to the visual arts today. With almost 300 artists responding, the exhibition provides a unique snapshot, at a specific moment in time, of artists working in Acme's studios. All of the works in the exhibition will become part of our expanding archive. The resulting exhibition at the Acme Project Space, coincides with the display of archive material from Acme’s first decade at the Whitechapel Gallery from 7 September 2013 to 23 February 2014.Visitors to the Acme Project Space are invited to tweet a picture of their favourite postcard@acmestudios #acmepostcard

Text -   'I approach language as a carrier of content. My own written pattern-based language work is made only out of words and numbers. Since 1990 I started to make drawings on daily writings that chronicle existence and evoke the passage of time: a systematic approach to counting time'.
